Veterans Home Care in Orange County

Veterans need care that’s steady, respectful, and centered on their well-being. At Home Care Providers, we support those who’ve served with daily assistance that helps them stay independent at home. If you’re searching for home health care for veterans in Orange County, we’re here to provide trusted, hands-on support that brings comfort.

In-Home Support for Veterans

We serve veterans through the Community Care Network (CCN) by offering in-home support that brings comfort and stability to their daily lives. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is the federal agency that provides essential healthcare, benefits, and services to military veterans. The Community Care Network is the VA’s system of approved providers that deliver care when services aren’t directly available through VA facilities. Through this program, eligible veterans can receive care from trusted, VA-approved agencies like us, right in the comfort of their own homes.

Eligible veterans can receive approved home care in the comfort of their own homes. These services include help with:

  • Support with Daily Living– We assign a personal care attendant to assist with tasks like bathing, grooming, dressing, and moving around the home. This helps veterans stay clean, comfortable, and safe each day. Having regular support also helps build trust and a smoother daily routine.
  • Homemaker Services – Veterans can get help with basic household chores, including light cleaning, cooking simple meals, and running local errands. These services take pressure off both the veteran and their family, helping maintain a healthier home without added stress.
  • Companionship and Safety Monitoring – Our staff provides a steady, one-on-one presence to help reduce feelings of loneliness and make sure someone is nearby to check in and assist when needed. Regular visits also give peace of mind to families who can’t always be there.
  • Respite Care – We offer respite care to give family caregivers a break from their day-to-day responsibilities. Whether they need a few hours or a longer pause, our team steps in to provide reliable care at home, so families can rest, attend to other matters, or simply recharge with peace of mind.

Veterans enrolled in VA home health care services may qualify for this support at no cost. Services are coordinated with VA caseworkers, and hours are based on individual needs. We can also provide 24-hour home care in Orange County for those who require around-the-clock support.

Home Health Care Covered by the VA

Home Care Providers offers home health care for veterans that meets all VA standards. The cost of veterans’ home care is covered through the Department of Veterans Affairs using third-party administrators like Optum and TriWest, so service members and their families pay nothing for authorized services.

To begin, veterans must speak with their VA provider. If there’s a confirmed need for home care, the VA handles the referral and authorization process. Once that step is complete, our team steps in to coordinate care based on the veteran’s needs.

Important Information About VA-Covered Home Care:

  • Veterans must be enrolled in VA health care and referred by a VA caseworker or care coordinator.
  • Most authorizations cover between 6 and 16 hours per week, though some veterans may qualify for higher levels of care, even up to 24-hour support in rare cases.
  • Reimbursement rates are determined each year and vary by region. In 2023, rates ranged from approximately $28.80 to $82 per hour, making CCN one of the most competitive payer sources in home care.
  • Only agencies credentialed and contracted with CCN administrators can provide care, and they must follow all VA standards of service.

Aid and Attendance Benefits

Veterans and surviving spouses may also qualify for home care services through the Aid and Attendance program. This is a monthly benefit that helps cover the cost of in-home care for veterans who need help with daily activities.

The VA pays the benefit directly to the veteran, who then uses it to pay for care. In 2025, monthly payouts include:

  • $2,358 for a single veteran
  • $2,795 for a married veteran
  • $1,515 for a surviving spouse

Not sure if you qualify? We help veterans and their families understand how to use the Aid & Attendance (A&A) pension to pay for home care. This benefit is separate from VA-covered services and provides direct monthly payments to qualifying veterans or their surviving spouses. The funds are sent straight to the veteran, who can use them to cover the cost of in-home care services.

Here are the guidelines when working with A&A-eligible clients in Orange County:

  • Eligibility is based on military service, honorable discharge, financial need, and care requirements.
  • As of writing, the asset limit is $159,240, and the veteran must have served at least 90 consecutive days, including one day during a wartime period.
  • Payments go directly to the veteran, not to the agency. Veterans use these funds to pay out of pocket for care.
  • Agencies do not bill the VA for A&A services, but may need to meet VA care standards when working with referral partners.
  • Veterans can apply through the VA or trusted referral groups like Aidandattendance.com, VetAssist, Veteran Care Coordination, and others.

Their coordinator matched me with a licensed nurse who arrived wearing calming pastel scrubs and a soft playlist humming from her phone. She set up the IV stand in my living room, confirmed every dosage aloud, and stayed nearby while I rested, updating my sister by text so no one had to hover. Between treatments she taught me gentle breathing exercises and prepped snack packs that wouldn’t upset my stomach. I never imagined a home health care service could bring this much comfort.

As my dad’s heart failure stabilized, I was still anxious leaving him alone during work hours. Two days after his discharge, I booked Home Care Providers for a trial shift. Their nurse showed up to our condo right on time with a rolling bag of supplies and a warm handshake. She reviewed the hospital notes, prepared low-sodium soup, and guided Dad through slow hallway laps. Small hiccup: the portable ECG monitor needed fresh batteries, so the first reading was delayed a few minutes, but she explained everything and documented the baseline once it powered on. By the time I returned, Dad had napped comfortably and his vitals were neatly charted in the portal. Having a professional home health care service watching him erased a lot of late-night worry. We’ve already scheduled ongoing visits.

I was exhausted after weeks of juggling work, my kids, and my mom’s post-surgery rehab. A friend urged me to call Home Care Providers in Brea. From the first phone chat, their coordinator listened as I rambled through medication times and my mom’s fear of strangers. The next morning a caregiver arrived with a gentle smile, laid out gloves and a tablet checklist, and coaxed Mom through stretches while chatting about old movies. Hearing her laugh in the kitchen nearly made me cry. The caregiver updated me via text when vitals were logged, so I could focus at work. Knowing reliable home care services were in place lifted a weight off my chest. Dinner that night felt calm for the first time all summer. I’m grateful we found them.

When Angie arrives, she’s always cheerful and makes sure first thing that I’m OK. Then she has no choice, because my dog won’t let her have one, she has to give my dog a treat. My dog loves her. She surveys what needs to be done, checking first what I need personally done. She will then help me with my bed, if needed help change my Depends , and take out my trash. .She always makes sure that I feel I am important and deserve. Good care. I appreciate the fact that she always make sure. Back gate is securely shut, coming and going. I Think HCP is very lucky to have her as an employee.
